ST KILDA has allowed four Sandringham VFL players to train with it in the lead up to this year’s AFL draft.
It is likely other AFL clubs will feature other state league players at training in the lead up to the rookie draft but the Saints are eyeing off the Zebras early which includes former West Coast rookie Adam Cockie, promising ruckman Michael Sikora, cricketer turned footballer Jackson Coleman and Chris Michaelides, who stormed into AFL draft calculations in the latter part of the season.
Michaelides played a reserves match and then fronted up to play VFL senior footy and play a starring role over a weekend.
Carlton will give Andrew Collins another chance to prove himself, while the Demons have taken a punt on delisted Brisbane player Cheynee Stiller and may well pick him as another mature age recruit to add to their list.
